The Beginners Guide to Meditation
Let’s meditate
Meditation enables us to move from higher brain frequency levels to lower ones and calm the mind. Slower wavelengths allows for more time between thoughts which offers us more opportunities to skillfully choose the thoughts we invest in.
Find a quiet space
Focus on your breath - Breathe in through your nose - as you do that count to 5. Breathe out though your nose to the count of 5. Repeat several times. When struggling with anxiety you can try the technique 4-7-8. Breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds.
When starting your meditation give yourself permission to have racing thoughts. If forcing the brain to calm down it will resist. What we resist persists. So observe the thoughts and don’t attach any judgment to these thoughts.
Start to ground yourself. You can use a grounding mat or lay in a field and use the earth to ground you.
Use guided meditation to listen to if you are new to meditation.
After your meditation if time permits - try to ground for 30 min to lock in the calming reset.
Use this practice every day for 30 days and watch the transformation take place. Repetition builds mastery.
